Abstract

The crystal of the title compound, C12H12S8, is a mixture of the 7,7'-dimethylbis(ethylenedithio)tetrathiafulvalene and 7,8'-dimethylbis(ethylenedithio)tetrathiafulvalene isomers, in an almost 60:40 ratio. The crystal is disordered with respect to the position of one of the methyl substituents. The S atoms are involved in three-dimensional intermolecular S...S contacts with distances within 3.703 Angstrom.
