Aqueous synthesis and photoluminescence properties of CdSe/CdS core/shell quantum dots

Abstract

Thiol-capped CdSe/CdS core/shell quantum dots which show high luminescence quantum yield are synthesized in aqueous solution with the application of ultrasonic irradiation. A combination of X-ray diffraction (XRD), UV-Vis absorption spectroscopy and photoluminescence spectroscopy are employed to analyze the QDs and determine their crystal structures and optical characters. Photostabilities of bare CdSe and CdSe/CdS core/shell QDs are compared under UV irradiation.
