Abstract

A 1D pencil shaped organometallic coordination polymer, [Ag2(μ5-TPOAc)2]n (1) [TPOAc− = triphenylacetate], has been synthesized and characterized and its structure was determined by X-ray crystallography. There are two types of Ag+ ions, which form strong η2 Ag2–C π bonds, two weak η1 Ag1⋯C π interactions and strong Ag–Ag interactions, resulting in the formation of C2⋯Ag1O3Ag2 and Ag2O3C2Ag2 moieties with very interesting structures. In addition we prepared metal coordination nano-polymers (MCNPs) of compound 1 by ultrasonic process where pyrolysis of compound 1 nanorods, as a template, result in silver nanofibers.
