Postbuckling Behavior of a Parametrically Excited Nonlinear Column

Abstract

Conditions for half-plane capture of a parametrically excited nonlinear column in the postbuckled state are presented. Conditions for snap-through (full plane motion) are also discussed. The fundamental mathematical tool used in the analysis is Lyapunov surfaces.
