Abstract Nano-SiO2/polysiloxane modified polyacrylate emulsifier-free emulsion was synthesized by emulsion polymerization using surfmer and the sol-gel process. The cocondensation of trimethoxysilyl groups of the polyacrylate polymer and TEOS formed a cross-linking network film, in which the nanometer-size silica particles were dispersed homogeneously in the acrylic polymer component. The hybrid films were transparent, solvent-resistant, good thermal stability and mechanical properties.
