Development of a Single-Phase Shunt Active Power Filter Using Boost Rectifier Technique

Abstract

This proposed work concerns with harmonics and reactive compensation of a single-phase system feeding a nonlinear load. The technique involves injecting equal but opposite distortions to shape the pulsating nature of the supply current to be sinusoidal and in-time phase with the supply voltage. This approach utilizes boost rectifier technique as a shunt active power filter. The works cover simulation evaluation using PSpice simulation package. The results show promising prospect of implementing the compensation strategy in the laboratory prototype.
