Abstract

This paper describes a single-switch electronic dimming ballast with unity input power factor. The proposed single-switch ballast is the combination of a boost converter and a modified series/parallel inverter. Dimming control is achieved by varying the switching frequency. Design considerations are listed and experimental results verify the analytical derivations.
