Abstract

Biomimetisch und effizient: Calcium-Mangan(III)-Mischoxide (siehe Strukturausschnitt: Ca grün, Mn rot, O weiß), die in Elementzusammensetzung und Struktur dem aktiven Zentrum des Photosystems II ähneln, sind sehr aktive Katalysatoren für die Oxidation von Wasser zu molekularem Sauerstoff. Wie für PS II wird die katalytische Aktivität durch den Einbau von Ca2+ gegenüber dem reinen Mangansystem Mn2O3 erheblich erhöht.
