Kevin D. Everett

Year: 1998 Journal:   Teaching Sociology Vol: 26 (4)Pages: 299-299   Publisher: SAGE Publishing

Abstract

Kevin Everett is associate professor of sociology and also Service-Learning Coordinator for the university. His main teaching interest is social inequality, and a primary goal is to help students to dispel the stereotypes they have about groups and to dispel the myths about the opportunity structures in this country. His favorite students are the first-generation college kids from working-class (usually coal mining) families. His current research project/interest is a multi-campus investigation of what makes women fearful of different types of rape (stranger vs. acquaintance). This is an excerpt from an article by the same title in Teaching Sociology, Oct. 1998, Vol. 26: 299-309.
