Experimental results connected with an application of a piezoelectric polymer film to an acoustic emission sensor are presented. The keynotes investigated through the experiments are following: (1) A piezoelectric polymer film, can be used to excite and detect surface acoustic waves like an acoustic emission signal or not. (2) Relative sensitivity of detection as a function of the diameter of a piezoelectric polymer probe. (3) Relative sensitivity to layer numbers of a piezoelectric polymer film. (4) Frequency characteristic of its polymer probe. Experimental results indicate sufficient possibility of an application of a polymer film to an AE sensor.
