Dynamic bandwidth allocation algorithm in ethernet passive optical networks

Abstract

A dynamic bandwidth allocation algorithm in ethernet passive optical networks (EPON) is proposed. Specifically, an analytic model to estimate the proper allocation of the bandwidth in EPON is introduced. In particular, it is shown that the proper allocation of the bandwidth for the optical network units leads to improvement in the network's performance.
