Abstract

General formulae of the pyroelectric coefficient and the figure of merit (p/ε) of a ferroelectric-polymer composite are theoretically derived in terms of the volume fraction q, the depolarization coefficient nx, the dielectric constant of the ferroelectric particles and the dielectric constant of the composite. The value of p/ε can be expected to be larger than that of pure ferroelectric ceramics. Good agreement is obtained between theoretical and experimental results.
