Abstract A technique for effectively tuning the resonant frequency of a microstripline feed dielectric resonator (DR) antenna is demonstrated. By embedding a pair of narrow slots in the antenna's ground plane, the resonant frequency of the DR antenna can be varied by adjusting the embedded slot length. Experimental results of the proposed frequency tunable DR antenna are presented and discussed. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
