Recently, interactive whiteboard (IWB) is often considered to be used in education. Most of IWB systems, however, cannot accurately describe complicated 3D structures because they only handle 2D projected images. In this paper, we present an IWB system which allows drawing in 3D space. This system is divided into two parts: a gesture recognition part and a 3D rendering part. A pen-like tool is used to determine the drawing state and an RGB-D camera to obtain its 3D coordinate data. By using the system, we could easily describe complicated 3D structures, which is difficult in the previous IWB systems.
