Abstract

This paper explains the method of compiling the map of snow depth in Norway, based not only on data of meteorological stations lying mainly at the bottom of valleys, but also on measurements of snow accumulation on the glaciers. The main point in compiling this map was to analyse the dependence of snow depth on the height of localities in different climatic districts. The altitude of snow gradients found in these districts and altitude position of snow-depth isolines were computed. The results were controlled by using data on snow measurements in river basins and by studying space photographs.
