Preselection-based iterative multiuser detector for DS-CDMA systems

Abstract

An advanced receiver that uses adaptive preselection in combination with iterative detection, to achieve near optimal performance at a lower complexity level than that of the maximum likelihood multiuser detector (MLMUD) receiver, is developed. The receiver combines iterative detection with selective partial soft cancellation to minimize the multiple access interference and improve the probability of correct detection. The performance of the receiver in its different modes is compared with a receiver based on the conventional matched filters (MF) bank and the optimal algorithm. The BER curves show that the receiver gives similar performance to that of the optimal ML receiver, with fewer operations.
