Very compact ultra‐wideband antenna with CPW‐FED monopole

Abstract

Abstract This article presents a very compact printed antenna for various ultra‐wideband (UWB) applications.The antenna structure comprises of a loop‐shaped radiating element with a trapezium shaped ground plane, and it uses a tapered coplanar waveguide feed line for excitation. The antenna exhibits a 10 dB impedance bandwidth from 3.34 to 16.3 GHz, which constitutes about 132%. The antenna radiates omnidirectionally in the H‐plane over the UWB band defined by Federal Communication Commission.
