Globalización y nuevas identidades culturales: Identidad de género en construcción

Abstract

With the advent of globalization, Latin America society experiences the failure of the sociopolitical matrix of the dominant national-popular state during 1930 to 1970, which in turn modifies the forms of collective action and identification and, with this, the dominant national identity, leading to the emergence of new categories of membership that enable the construction of new cultural identities like gender identity. It is precisely at this stage where this article will review and analyze, from a theoretical level, the role and impact that the globalization process has had on the emergence of new cultural identities, from the creation of new lines of collective actions and identification, with particular emphasis on the review of gender identity, considering the importance and vital need to strengthen the studies about this subject , in order to give a thorough treatment that allows the possibility of opening new spaces of integration that lead to a diverse and tolerant Latin American Society.
