Porous Silicon Microcavities Based Photonic Barcodes

Abstract

A new type of porous silicon based microcavity has been developed. The intrinsic photoluminiscence emission is strongly coupled to the whispering gallery modes of the microcavity resulting in a unique photonic fingerprint of each particle. It may be envisaged as a photonic bar code like luminescent profile associated to each single particle. © 2011 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim.
