Frequency tuning for compact cylindrical dielectric resonator antenna (CDRA)

Abstract

In this paper the tuning of the resonant frequency of a miniaturized cylindrical dielectric resonator antenna (CDRA) is presented. The aperture slot and the metallic top loaded techniques are applied to down shift the required resonant frequency without compromising the antenna performance. The effects of each method to the impedance matching characteristics are highlighted. From the later results, the resonant frequency of the antenna is recorded and the designed CDRA is successfully tuned at 2.45GHz.
