Preparation and Photocatalytic Activity of Magnetically Separated Nitrogen-Doped TiO2 Under Visible Light

Abstract

A magnetically separated fly ash micro-sphere (MSFM) were prepared by citrate sol-gel process. The microstructure of the products were tested by SEM and EDS. It was found that the MSFM was coated with network of barium ferrite, which exhibited the magnetic absorption property. Then the TiO 2 film photocatalysts immobilized on MSFM were prepared by sol-gel method, methods. The crystal phase and morphology of TiO 2 micro-sphere were investigated by XRD and SEM. The photocatalytic activities of TiO 2 microsphere with different prepared condition and the amount of TiO 2 on microsphere were evaluated by degradation of methyl orange. The results showed that TiO 2 microsphere catalyst exhibited good photocatalytic activity and stability for photocatalytic decomposition of methyl orange and the activity was superior to that of TiO 2 powder, and easily separated from the reaction system.
