A Study on Surface Treatment of Layered LiNi1/3Mn1/3Co1/3O2 Materials in Lithium Secondary Batteries

Abstract

Surface of LiNi1/3Mn1/3Co1/3O2 was coated with amorphous carbon to enhance the conductivity of the material. Electrochemical studies were performed by assembling 2032 coin cells with lithium metal as an anode. The carbon was coated irregularly on the surface of the material. The carbon-coated LiNi1/3Mn1/3Co1/3O2 cathode material showed the improved rate capability, thermal stability and cycle performance.
