Abstract

The photoconductivity of thin rubidium halide films has been studied in the visible and near-UV range of the electromagnetic spectrum under the influence of an electric field. the observed structure for photon energies between 1.5 and 3.5 eV is related to the presence of F-centres in the samples. The monotonic increase of the photocurrent for photon energies greater than 3.8 eV is due to the photoinjection of electrons from the metal electrode into the conduction band of the rubidium halides.
