Abstract Lipid vesicles were made by sonication of well defined phospholipids above the chain‐melting temperature. Fractionation was obtained by ultracentrifugation. The vesicle size was determined with different methods, for example by different light scattering methods and by determination of the sedimentation coefficients in an analytical ultracentrifuge. The influence of size and charge were studied with respect to the stability of the lipid vesicles.
