Abstract

This paper discusses meteorological conditions associated with high ozone concentrations in the New York Metropolitan area. To this end, ambient air quality measurements from the states of New Jersey, New York and Connecticut were examined for a six-year period from 1978 to 1983. High ozone days were selected from the available data. The defining criterion was a maximum hourly reading of greater than or equal to 200 ppb in the New York metropolitan area, New Jersey, and/or at two sites in Connecticut.
