Context-aware unified communication

Abstract

In the last years there is a merging trend towards unified communication systems over IP protocols from desktop to handheld devices. Nowadays users have the possibility to choose from a wide range of methods of communications (mobile, text, video). This variety leads to a series of problems like the management, synchronization, updating and sharing of contacts or choosing the most efficient mean of communication from a cost and quality perspective. Therefore in this article we discuss how user context can be used to identify the best communication channel to one of his contacts.
