Abstract

The small-angle magnetization rotation (SAMR) is extended to measure the magnetostriction constant of magnetic thin films with an accuracy about +or-1*10/sup -8/. It is found that the average value of internal stress existing in the sample can be determined during the measurement. The magnetostriction constant of Co-rich amorphous film is measured, and is about 7*10/sup -8/.< >
