Model-based diagnosis for industrial applications

Abstract

The task of diagnosing technical systems becomes increasingly challenging. Their complexity is growing rapidly, and so is the complexity of the task to identify and remove the causes of malfunctions. This holds for all types of systems, production plants, communication networks, transportation systems, but also for consumer products. The paper discusses the essence of model-based diagnosis which overcomes serious limitations of previous approaches. (9 pages)
