A novel frequency and power allocation algorithm in OFDMA based femtocell networks

Abstract

A frequency and power allocation algorithm is introduced in order to reduce inter-cell interference in an OFDMA based femtocell network in order to increase system capacity. The frequency allocation part of the algorithm is based on graph coloring theory and then an iterative Water-Filling algorithm is used for power allocation. The frequency spectrum is divided into subchannels that are assigned to femtocells so that the same subchannel may not be assigned to the neighboring femtocells. Simulation results show that the proposed frequency and power allocation algorithm can increase the system capacity about 15% with respect to traditional resource allocation methods.
