Electrochemical Determination of Reductive Glutathione with Copper (II) or Chromium (VI)

Abstract

This paper has described two easy electrochemical method of determination GSH based on the reduced effect of GSH on the redox current of copper (II) or chromium (VI). A strong redox peak appeared at about 0.28 V and 0.25 V on a gold electrode for copper (II) and chromium (VI), respectively. When GSH was added in the solution, the current value was depressed and the decrease is dependent on the concentration of GSH added. The results showed that the reduced peak current of copper (II) and chromium (VI) had good linearity with concentration of GSH in the range of 1.0 × 10 -8 ~ 8.0 × 10 -8 M and 1.0 × 10 -11 ~7.0 × 10 -11 M, and the detection limits were 1.0 × 10 -9 M and 1.0 × 10 -11 M, respectively.
