Wideband dual-circularly-polarized microstrip antenna

Abstract

This paper presents the structure and characteristics of a stacked circularly-polarized microstrip antenna with a wide band. The antenna is designed to enable the transmission and reception for dual-circularly-polarized (LHCP or RHCP) wideband signals. In simulation an impedance bandwidth of 33% and the axial ratio bandwidth of 30%have been achieved. The use of dielectric foam makes the antenna light weight and low cost. These features make it ideal element for wideband applications as required by mobile satellite and wireless communication systems.
