A modified eigenspace-based algorithm for adaptive beamforming

Abstract

This paper deals with adaptive array beamforming in the presence of the pointing error. A modified algorithm with robust capabilities for the eigenspace based adaptive beamforming is presented. By utilizing the signal-plus-interference subspace obtained with the eigenstructure of the correlation matrix, we calibrate the presumed steering vector in the ESB algorithm. The calibrated steering vector is then used for the ESB adaptive beamforming. Several computer simulation examples are presented that demonstrate the advantages of the proposed algorithm over the conventional ESB algorithm.
