Optimum power allocation in CDMA mobile satellite diversity systems

Abstract

A novel approach in the study of the effective exploitation of satellite diversity has been introduced. The problem has been formulated as a power allocation problem. The combination power control/satellite diversity scheme that allows to exploit more effectively the multi-satellite channel has been found. In the light of a theoretical study, a comparison in terms of tradeoff service, availability-capacity has been carried out between the optimum satellite diversity scheme and other satellite diversity schemes. In particular a hybrid Globalstar-like scheme is considered in the comparison.
