Luminescence and Morphology of BaMgAl 10 O 17 : Eu 2+ Phosphors Prepared from Different Phases of Al 2 O 3

Abstract

The phosphors BaMgAl 10 O 17 : Eu 2+ ( BAM ) were prepared by a high‐temperature solid‐state reaction method using BaCO 3 , MgO , Eu 2 O 3, and Al 2 O 3 with different (α, θ, and γ) phases. The reaction processes and final products were investigated and compared using X ‐ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, and VUV – UV –Vis spectra, indicating that Al 2 O 3 has minimum influence on the crystallinity, morphology, and luminescence of BAM .
