Cell search in ultra wide band time hopping asynchronous networks

Abstract

In this paper, we resolve the problem of downlink acquisition in impulse radio multiple access communication networks. Time hopping techniques are first reviewed, and the synchronization problem is introduced. A new downlink acquisition procedure in an asynchronous MAC domain is presented; the algorithm is described and the physical channels for temporal synchronization are introduced. Moreover, a choice of suitable time hopping codes for the synchronization channels is proposed and conclusions are given.
