Testing for the shielding quality of EMI gaskets and gasketed joints

Abstract

This paper deals with the generation, propagation and suppression of radiated EM waves through metallic shielding barriers and gasketed joints. It describes (1) the correlation between the transfer impedance of a gasketed joint and the subsequent shielding effectiveness of the joint; (2) a transfer impedance test fixture; and (3) the transfer impedance test data of selected gaskets and joint surfaces.< >
