ABSTRACT The article presents the results of a study conducted on female Spanish expatriates in Mexico City. From a gender perspective, the article analyzes the labor experiences, as well as the everyday activities and geographical perceptions, of a group of highlyskilled professional women who “accompany” their husbands (or partners) in the migratory process. Specifi cally, it examines the way gender relations are linked to family-based processes of negotiation that are related to women’s new position in both the workplace and the home.
