Abstract

In this paper, a CPW-fed variable-width meander slot antenna is proposed for use in miniaturized personal communication devices. By optimizing the width of the slot of the antenna, it is possible to achieve drastically miniaturized antennas having 6.2 to 9.9% in size compared to the conventional rectangular microstrip patch antenna. Measured and simulated antenna performances reveal good agreement.
