This study aims at the discussion of Physical Education as a curricular component through historical roots, seeking new directions to allow its legitimacy as so. brought to light by scholars on Education and Physical Education, the theme was put into context, some field paradigms which still describe the subject as “activity” were approached, strategies for an effective changes were discussed, the planning and systematization of contents as necessary actions were highlighted. The conclusion is that school Physical Education can overcome this situation as a commitment from teachers who own the formal and informative attributes on the subject is established, along with its own need to provide students with essential life experiences and knowledge
