A navigation service in TINA

Abstract

This paper introduces a multimedia navigation service as an example of operation services which utilizes service management functions and presents the requirements of the service management functions. A navigation service allows customers to operate new emerging telecommunications services which are characterized by: the variety of services; high broadband network traffic; combined services and services defined by the customer; personal/terminal/session mobility; and a wide range of customized service parameters. New service management technologies are required to meet the customers' demands, such as the confirmation/modification/selection of service contents and charge information inquiry, regardless of the service life-cycle. A service reference model to navigate customers in a multimedia telecommunications service world and a service infrastructure from a service management viewpoint are described.
