Abstract

The solubility limit of Fe-ion in CrO 2 and the properties of (Cr 1- x Fe x )O 2 were examined. Added Fe-ions dissolve into CrO 2 and form an oxide of (Cr 1-2 x 4+ Cr x 5+ Fe x 3+ )O 2 , up to the x -value of about 0.06. The T c increases from 116°C for the pure CrO 2 to about 155°C with an Fe-addition of x =0.06. The magnetic moments of Fe 3+ and Cr 5+ couple in anti-parallel way to that of Cr 4+ .
