Abstract

We report the fabrication of hexagonal arrays of fs-laser written waveguides in fused silica. The characterization of the light propagation inside the arrays proves the accuracy of the technology and the possibility to create highly symmetric 2-dimensional arrays. Furthermore we demonstrate the ability to fabricate large arrangements of evanescently coupled waveguide structures with this highly productive procedure.
