Sensitization of wide band gap semiconductors has received considerable interests for photovoltaic and water splitting applications. Recently, semiconductor quantum dots (QDs) or semiconductor nanocrystals have been considered as sensitizer materials. In this chapter, the concept for sensitization by QDs is described with further in depth discussions on the interfacial nanostructure design to improve the efficiency.
