Abstract

One inherent problem of network video is the sensitivity of the compressed bit-stream to data loss. Since block motion compensation is widely adopted in present day video coding standards, any damage to these compressed video bitstreams may lead to degradation of video quality due to error propagation and accumulation. This paper introduces a new scheme for robust coding and transmission of video to reduce the effect of error propagation.
