Adaptive detection of radar targets in compound-Gaussian clutter

Abstract

This paper explores the problem of adaptive detection of radar targets in compound-Gaussian clutter. In particular we present a result that transitions between the adaptive detector of Kelly and the adaptive-linear quadratic detector of various authors, and also recovers the optimal detector in Student-t distributed clutter when the estimate of the covariance matrix is replaced by the exact matrix.
