Diesel Combustion Temperature on Soot

O. A. Uyehara

Year: 1980 Journal:   SAE technical papers on CD-ROM/SAE technical paper series Vol: 1

Abstract

<div class="htmlview paragraph">From recently published papers, mostly from Japanese authors, which deals with soot containing flames, the author chose certain experimental results contained in these papers to support the idea that 2000 to 2400°K is the temperature range in diffusion flames where the flame contains soot. The maximum soot concentration in diffusion flames occurs at a temperature of about 2150°K. From this peak, soot concentration containing flame at 2150, the soot concentration drops off on both sides until at about 1950 and at 2400 the flame contains negligible soot. Supportive arguments are presented and backed by published experimental data.</div>
