Inviscid hypersonic flows on blunt bodies

Abstract

Theoretical studies made by a number of investigators over the last decade have made it possible to understand the nature of the inviscid flow near the stagnation point of a blunt body in a hypersonic stream. The basic problem is to relate the free stream Mach number and the various geometric and thermodynamic parameters of the flow. Unanswered questions remain, of course, but the principal questions have been answered.
